How to play
- Start with the button or any arrow key. Steer with the arrow keys, W A S D, a swipe on the board, or the arrow buttons.
- Eat apples to grow and score. Faster speeds give more points per apple: 1, 2, 3 or 5.
- Walls: with walls on, hitting the edge ends the game; with walls off you come out on the other side.
- Pause with the button, Space or P. The game also pauses when you switch tabs.
High scores are kept separately for each speed and wall setting, in this browser only.
Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I turn back on myself?
A 180° turn would make the snake bite its own neck instantly, so it is ignored, as in the classic game.
Does the page scroll when I swipe?
No. Swipes on the board only steer the snake; the rest of the page scrolls normally.
Where is my high score saved?
In your browser’s local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to a server.
