How to use it
Type or paste text into the box. Words, characters, sentences, paragraphs and lines are counted instantly. Reading time assumes 238 words per minute (the average for adult silent reading of non-fiction) and speaking time 140 words per minute.
The case buttons change the whole text: UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case (small words such as “and” or “of” stay lower case), and Sentence case. “Remove extra spaces” collapses double spaces and blank lines, which helps before pasting into a form with a character limit.
Top keywords lists the most frequent words, ignoring common words such as “the” and “and”, with their share of the text. It is a quick check for keyword stuffing in an article or product description.

Are spaces counted as characters?
Both numbers are shown: characters including spaces and characters without spaces. Social networks and most forms count spaces.
How is a word defined?
A run of letters or digits. Hyphenated words and words with apostrophes, such as “don’t” or “well-known”, count as one word.
Is my text saved or uploaded?
Nothing is uploaded. The text is only kept in your browser if you tick “Keep my draft”, and unticking it deletes the copy.
